Welding robot by UR is portable and safe while boosting shop productivity
The UR Vectis Cobot Welding Tool
Advanced Motion & Controls Ltd. is Canada’s number one source for robotic solutions by Universal Robots (UR) – especially its collaborative robot arms, or cobots. One of the most impressive UR innovations is the Vectis Cobot Welding Tool. This unique welding robot helps manufacturers boost productivity by decreasing the learning curve, setup time, risk, and expense of robotic welding. It is portable, safe, and easy to use, even for workers with no programming experience.
“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Advanced Motion & Controls Ltd. to bring easy-to-use, accessible welding automation to Canadian fabricators,” says Josh Pawley, director of business development and founding partner with Vectis Automation. “We look forward to together helping manufacturers boost productivity and do more with less amid the skilled-welder shortage.”
Fully integrated ready-to-weld system
As noted by Todd Paquet, vice president of business development at Advanced Motion & Controls Ltd., “Canada has a significant and ever-growing shortage of skilled welders. We are excited to be offering the technologies developed by Vectis. SMEs in Canada can now (quickly) realize the tremendous benefits in accomplishing their repetitive welding processes, regardless of in-house robotic capabilities. The ROIs are impressive and will help all Canadian metal fabricators be more competitive.”
The Vectis welding robot is a fully integrated, ready-to-weld system powered by a UR UR10e cobot. Users typically set it up and start welding within only a few hours of receiving it, thanks to the manufacturer’s do-it-yourself system for installation and setup; the Let’s Weld Together intuitive programming interface saves valuable time and money. The system is integrated onto a three-by-six-foot mobile modular fixturing cart, allowing the user to move it freely to workstations.
Other advantages of investing in this welding tool from Advanced Motion & Controls Ltd.:
- UR CAP and controls package, which facilitates simple use and enables weld parameter control on the pendant and weaving capability;
- low all-in cost, including shipping; and
- high capability with repetitive small or medium parts, like brackets, sub-assemblies, and piece parts.
The Vectis system is packaged on the cart with the UR10e mounted and electrically isolated to the tabletop surface. The robust, straightforward, air-cooled torch is mounted to the robot flange along with a button that enables Freedrive mode. The welder, wire feeder, and UR cabinet are contained safely under the tabletop surface, and the system has a controls interface between the cabinet and the welding equipment to control voltage/trim, wire-feed speed, crater fill, pre-flow, post-flow, and supervisory signals.
The UR Cap package lets non-programmers easily, quickly program welds, tacks, circles, and compound paths with a simple programming interface. It also incorporates major welding features, like weaving (cross or in-line), arc supervision, error handling, weld library management, and TCP calculation. UR is always in the process of developing new features.
