The newly improved Universal Robots UR10e cobot

Advanced Motion & Controls Ltd. supplies collaborative robot arms (“cobots”) produced by Universal Robots (UR). The manufacturer has just upgraded its UR10e robot arm to offer more versatility, with a payload of 12½ kilograms and a reach of 1.3 metres. This reach spans wide work spaces without compromising payload performance or precision. Making collaborative automation accessible to many businesses, the newly improved UR10e is ideal for machine-tending, palletizing, and packaging applications.

With more lifting capacity

Weighting 33½ kilograms and offering a 190-millimetre footprint, the upgraded UR10e provides 25 per cent more lifting capacity, making it perfect for heavy operations. It moves more boxes per pick, processes heavier work pieces, and uses heavier tools, enabling higher productivity, better product quality, and employees free to focus on more appropriate tasks. The system is backed by world-leading training, local support, intuitive design, and extraordinary performance with the industry’s quickest payback times.

Safety is another key advantage of this collaborative robot arm. Twenty-four per cent of occupational injuries in manufacturing result from overexertion, while eight per cent come from repetitive motion. The new UR10e automates more applications that causes these injuries, allowing the workforce to be more productive in other areas.

Cobots simplify manufacturing processes by blending human ingenuity with precision engineering, thereby keeping operations running 24 hours a day, every day. This newly improved robot arm is a powerful, intuitive unit that is easy to program, versatile, capable of worker collaboration, and bringing the benefits of automation to organizations worldwide.

In palletizing tasks, the cobot wrist remains oriented downwards, creating a longer centre-of-gravity offset that allows workers to focus more payload on work pieces and less on grippers and moment arms. This results in higher payload capacity in this application.

As it does with all of its products, UR has conducted rigorous testing on the upgraded UR10e to guarantee its high payload capacity and longer reach, ensuring its position as the best in its class. Advanced Motion & Controls offers this unit as an OEM robot system and with a three-position Teach pendant.
