Linear-motion components by THK benefit from unique ideas and technology
THK produces LM guides and much more.
THK has been enhancing linear motion for businesses around the world for half a century, and its products are available in Canada through Advanced Motion & Controls Ltd. The Tokyo-based manufacturer offers creative ideas and unique technology that have established it as a pioneer in the development of linear-motion guides, or LM guides. These innovative devices have become indispensable components in electronic and mechanical systems in a broad range of industrial sectors.
Toughness, high quality, and know-how
The company name, THK, stands for its three essential traits: toughness; high quality; and know-how. By focusing on these three principles in its technology department and product-manufacturing processes, the THK team aims to contribute to the improvement of society and development of industry. The corporation has mastered a wide variety of technologies in its product lineup.
As the signature THK product, the LM guide was the first component in the world to incorporate linear rolling motion into practical use, offering a method of linear motion with rolling contact. Since their introduction in 1972, LM guides have offered high precision, high rigidity, and energy savings for high-speed machinery, as well as long service life through the use of the caged ball system, which eliminates friction between balls.
In 1996, the THK crew developed caged ball LM guides, which provide substantially higher performance than conventional units do. As user-friendly and environmentally friendly devices, they offer long service life with infrequent maintenance, low noise emission with acceptable acoustics, ultra-high-speed function, low dust emission, and very smooth operation.
The spectrum of unique mechanical components that THK has developed since its founding in 1971 is wide and diverse. The following three categories of products are available from Advanced Motion & Controls:
- Linear motion. Caged ball linear guides and rolls, spline nuts and linear bushings, precision linear packs, and cross roller tables.
- Feed screw and rotation. Ball screws, screw and change nuts, cross roller rings, and cam and roller followers.
- Actuators and mechatronics. Including linear guided and ball screws. Low-cost and efficient units that deliver high performance and maintenance-free operation.
